Integrative Pain Management Series 10 Hours (2020-2022)

Current statistics on pain in the United States are overwhelming; In the United States, over 20% of adults have chronic pain and is estimated to cost the United States well over $500 billion annually (IMCAPR, 2011; Dahlhamer, 2018). Globally, recurrent tension headache is the most common chronic condition and chronic low back pain is the single largest of cause disability (Rice, 2016; Vos et al., 2015). This is an important time to learn effective Integrative approaches to treat pain as the prevalence and incidence of pain is increasing.

Educational Purpose

This course series offers an in-depth look at the current state of integrative pain management. Participants will gain an understanding of the pathophysiology of acute pain vs chronic pain, learning to assess the evidence for the safety and benefit of a wide variety of integrative modalities including nutritional approaches, mind-body therapies, manual therapy techniques, acupuncture, and many more. Participants will review current strategies for de-prescribing opiate medications, and be able to discuss the role of Integrative Medicine in the management of chronic pain.
